For once, during the entire conversation, Lamaye dropped the flirty, controlling manipulative tone of voice, and actually allowed an honest side of her psyche appear.
"You are right; everyone has a choice, but not always a second choice. I'm afraid I made mine a long time ago, Sofia. I may have my good moments, and I may have my bad, but in the end, I will have to abide by the decisions of my past. No one can change that."
Lamaye stood up from her chair. "I will be at your ranch first thing in the morning. For now, I have to inform my boss that I'll be quitting. I will see you soon, Sofia."
